Three free online tools you must know to create social media graphics
If you manage any social media for yourself or others, designing images which fit well in different channels is always a problem. The tools below can help you out without taking a cent from your pocket or making you install software on your system.
Pablo by Buffer: We have all heard of Buffer, they’ve done us all a great favor by creating Pablo, a free tool to create images for Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Users can search images from royalty-free sources such as Unsplash directly through the app, add text, logos, modify colors using filters and then create the same image in different sizes. It’s a great tool to design quickly design simple images and publish them. Buffer is known for its simplicity and Pablo is on the sample lines — it is very simple but with the result, it only supports three text boxes and one logo option.
Adobe Spark: The well known Photoshop prodigy, Adobe, has a free tool for creating great graphics, especially for social media. Adobe Spark allows users to choose from a variety of templates, like Youtube Cover, Facebook Cover, Twitter Post etc. which makes it very easy to create specific graphics.
Once a template is selected, a beautiful interface opens up whether there are many options, but just the right amount to not be overwhelming.
Aviary: Our swiss knife for social media graphics, Aviary is usually integrated into many third-party apps and was acquired by Adobe a few years back. Their mobile app is very user-friendly and so is their online version. They have the most tools a good freemium image editing tools can offer — Focus, Stickers, Red-Eye reduction, drawing, a ‘meme’ mode, splash effects etc. The only thing missing from Aviary is a search feature for royalty free base images — which Pablo offers pretty upfront.
These three tools cover most of the basic requirements we have for social graphics without the need to install any software on our system.
- Use Pablo when you need to quickly create very simple images for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest.
- Go to Adobe Spark when you need to create images for other platforms or want more control.
- Explore Aviary if you already have your photographs and need some cool features like frames or stickers.
